From this screen you can link to the lyrics and an MP3 of each title  . What we  offer here is the original songwriter's version of each song. But there are many different ways of treating a song and the creativity of the artist working with an empathetic producer should always be given plenty of room to achieve the finished recording.
.
We aim for quality:   these tracks are of  broadcast recording  standard (thanks to pre-mastering by Andy Jackson, Pink Floyd's recording engineer). Alan is seeking  to achieve  the best quality recordings  of his material. This is an essential and demanding  task in today's marketplace where A'n'R people, publishers and others are  accustomed, now more than ever,  to evaluating music and songs that have been given the full (and comprehensively packaged) professional treatment in the best studios by 'name' producers. The individual writer/producer must compete at this level by a commitment to constant improvement, by  keeping abreast of the constantly changing array of digital tools available for the project studio and by not forgetting his analogue roots. Some earlier songs, although they may have merit, clearly do not achieve these production standards - but they will be re-recorded, at some stage, so some are included.

Is there a place for us? It is a highly competitive marketplace out there but (if you want to compete) you must always believe there is a place for a good (even a hit?) song and that you are capable of writing it. We have been told there are still producers who prefer demos not to be elaborate and who might prefer the bare bones of a song with one guitar or piano accompaniment. Who he?

Only a handful not a hat full.  The songs listed below are a small representative sample of Alan's work over a period of time. It is Alan's intention to change the titles from time to time but in any case he has tried to set this up so you can read the lyrics whilst auditioning the track. We would urge you to visit the legal sheet page to recap on copyright etc.

Howling feedback. It is helpful (sometimes) to get reaction and if you or your pet feel so inclined please contact Alan to leave your comment. All communications will be replied to - if you wish!
